A note on this page
This policy describes what BrokerProof actually collects and does today, written in good faith by the team building the product. It has not been reviewed by a licensed attorney. We recommend formal legal review before the platform handles meaningful transaction volume, payment data at scale, or expands outside Ohio/Kentucky.
What we collect
- Account information: name, email, and password (stored hashed by our authentication provider, never in plain text) for anyone who signs up.
- Broker verification evidence: a photo or PDF of your real estate license, and any transaction documents you upload (closing statements, listing agreements, leases, invoices) to support a verified deal claim. These are stored in a private file store, visible only to you and BrokerProof moderators — never public, never shown to other brokers or customers.
- Reviews and nominations: the content you submit when reviewing a broker or nominating one, plus whether you chose to keep your identity public or anonymous on a review.
- Inquiries and match searches: when a customer requests an introduction to a broker, we share the search details (asset class, market, budget, representation type) and contact email with that broker, only after explicit consent given at the time of the request.
- Usage data: basic analytics such as profile views (used to show brokers their own traffic — never inflated by a broker viewing their own profile).
- Billing information: if you subscribe to a paid membership, payment is processed by Stripe directly — BrokerProof never sees or stores your card number.
How we use it
To verify broker identities and transaction claims, calculate the BrokerProof Rating and Match scores, connect customers with brokers they've consented to share information with, and operate the site (fraud prevention, moderation, support). We do not use your data to train third-party AI models, and we do not sell your personal information to data brokers or advertisers.
Who we share it with
- A broker only ever receives your inquiry details after you explicitly consent to that specific request — never proactively, never in bulk.
- Service providers that operate the platform on our behalf: Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage), Vercel (hosting), Stripe (payment processing), and, if you use an AI-assisted document review feature, Anthropic (solely to read the document you uploaded and produce a summary for a human moderator — never to make an approval decision itself).
- Law enforcement or legal process, only when required by a valid legal request.
Verification evidence and document storage
License photos and transaction documents are stored in a private, access-controlled file store. Row-level security restricts read access to you and BrokerProof moderators/admins only — this is enforced at the database level, not just in the app's interface. We retain this evidence for as long as your account and verification status are active, and you may request deletion (see "Your rights" below).
Data retention and deletion
We keep your account data as long as your account is active. You can request account deletion at any time by contacting us — we will remove your personal information, though some anonymized or aggregated data (e.g., a published review with identity hidden) may be retained where it does not identify you, and data we're legally required to keep (billing records) is retained per that requirement.
Cookies
We use cookies only to keep you signed in and to remember basic session state — not third-party advertising trackers. Disabling cookies in your browser will prevent you from staying logged in.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information (for example, under CCPA in California or GDPR in the EU/UK). Contact us to exercise any of these rights, and we'll respond within a reasonable time.
Children
BrokerProof is a business-to-business and business-to-consumer commercial real estate platform, not directed at or intended for use by anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we materially change how we collect or use your data, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where required, notify you directly.
